Online Portals
Accountant Services – Online Portals
We use them, they are great.
In fact some kind of software is now almost unavoidable. Making Tax Digital makes this true.
We mostly use Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. Whatever works for you as most of them are similar. They take an automatic feed from your bank and record it. You can teach them rules to automatically allocate stuff that happens frequently.
They can then give you real time information on the position of your business. You can set them up to deliver some key information. So if you want to know how much cash you have received this week – there’s a report for that. If you want to know what your profit is likely to be this month – there’s a report for that too.
I have said a couple of times that we ‘use’ portals. That’s important because we are still a people business. The system can tell you what you need to know. Only a human can really discuss what it means.
I saw a super-computer prediction of the standing at the end of the Premier League recently. Just because you have seen the prediction doesn’t mean you should stop watching the game.
We are not and never will be a data processing business, we are business advisors and none of the systems available today come close to delivering financial management services. So in the same way Outlook doesn’t write you e-mails, your online accounting services or portal doesn’t do your accounting. That is all done by our expert team of Warrington accountants.
We help growing, successful businesses to enjoy total certainty and clarity in their finances without any accounting headaches, guesswork, or nasty surprises from HMRC.
Our Services
Payroll
In short we do it all. We have an Umbrella Company if you happen to work for an agency. We offer payroll to our clients.
Self-Assessment Tax Returns (SATR)
This needs to be done by the 31st January every year for the previous tax year. At the latest. So that’s the January after the April 5th Tax Year ends.
Real World Experience
The problems most growing successful businesses experience are not often the obvious ones. You open your business and write a plan. Then comes the real world and ruins it for you.
Advice
A lot of Accountancy is set up around compliance. Telling HMRC what they need to know on time and paying your tax.
Bookkeeping
The world is changing, but most heavy lifting in an accountancy practice is still done by the Bookkeepers.
Month Nine Review
While I am chucking rocks at established accounting practices that just don’t work for small businesses, monthly management accounts are a waste of time. Until you get big enough to use them.
