Real World Experience
Accountancy Services with real world experience
The problems most growing successful businesses experience are not often the obvious ones. You open your business and write a plan. Then comes the real world and ruins it for you.
Leadership in my opinion is the ability to take decisions when stuff goes wrong. That ‘stuff’ always goes wrong in the real world. Leadership isn’t sitting there worrying about it, but quickly moving on and changing.
The modern ’entrepreneur’ books call it ‘pivoting’. In reality pivoting is what you do when you have a $1million in the bank from Venture Capitalists. What the normal business does is fight on in a slightly different direction.
When this happens you need advice from someone who has been through what you are going through. A trusted business advisor to help you transition quickly. The best adviser is an accountant who has been on the same journey as you.
The team at Contractor Unlimited have opened, grown, bought and sold businesses. We have experience of most of those issues that you will experience but probably not expect.
A quick example. One business I look after had issues collecting invoices and cash flow problems. The accounting spotted the cash flow problem but the solution was in the real world. We designed a new process for this business. Their collections went up from 82% to 98% and it also changed the shape of their company income for the better. How did we know – we had done it ourselves – experience is the best teacher there is.
The accounting we do doesn’t answer all of the questions – it just gives us tools to apply our real world experience to solve your problems more quickly.
If you would like to talk to an accountancy team that has been where you are then get in touch to arrange a quick phone conversation. The objective is to see if we think we can add value to your business and to make sure we are a good fit.
We help growing, successful businesses to enjoy total certainty and clarity in their finances without any accounting headaches, guesswork, or nasty surprises from HMRC.
Our Services
Bookkeeping
The world is changing, but most heavy lifting in an accountancy practice is still done by the Bookkeepers.
Payroll
In short we do it all. We have an Umbrella Company if you happen to work for an agency. We offer payroll to our clients.
Online Portal
We use them, they are great. In fact some kind of software is now almost unavoidable. Making Tax Digital makes this true.
Advice
A lot of Accountancy is set up around compliance. Telling HMRC what they need to know on time and paying your tax.
Self-Assessment Tax Returns
This needs to be done by the 31st January every year for the previous tax year. At the latest. So that’s the January after the April 5th Tax Year ends.
Month Nine Review
While I am chucking rocks at established accounting practices that just don’t work for small businesses, monthly management accounts are a waste of time. Until you get big enough to use them.
